Other changes include, but are not limited to, the following:

Are you offering any end of Summer support now that you are open again?

YES! – Please contact us directly to ask about our Summer at The Hub 2024. We are in the business of helping students get back into the swing of things as schools are slated to reopen in September. We will take a gentle approach and review COVID expectations and protocol that will likely be the norm in school settings. We will also dive into some end of Summer work based on ‘bridging the gap’ between grades finished and the new grade being started. We will tend to the ‘summer slide’ that often happens with academics :)

What does The Learning Hub Academy provide and how is it different from other centers?

Our certified teachers meet with students and parents for an initial intake session. During this time, decisions are made regarding assessments, academic expectations and goal setting. With support from teachers, students will utilize world-renowned learning materials consistent with UK-based skill building. As skills are learned and polished, they will be aligned with appropriate provincial standards. It’s the best of two worlds! We encourage our families to consider our Language and/or Mathematics options. One or two hour sessions can be arranged with a healthy snack opportunity built in to ‘nourish developing brains’.

What is the right age for students to attend The Learning Hub Academy? How often should my student attend?

Please contact us when you feel additional support might be required for your student. We cater to the needs of Early Learners (age 4+) right through to the end of Grade 12 and we try to accommodate your schedule and needs. We offer one hour sessions, twice a week. We offer two hour sessions for our older students (Language/Math). Feel free to approach us with your needs.

How does the Learning Hub Academy help me as a parent?

Parents are partners at our Center. We believe in a team approach and want to work with you, your student and their school if necessary. We recognize that school work can be stressful and we want to help alleviate any tension that comes with trying to navigate the ‘unknown’. Our team builds relationships with students, acting as a support system outside your home.

How is The Learning Hub Academy different from a tutor?

The teachers at the Hub will strive to get to know your student and help to foster a Growth Mindset that is essential to taking risks and feeling confident. Conversations around the “I CAN” attitude will take place during sessions. The teacher’s role, as a facilitator, incorporates instruction and guidance as needed, but also allows your student to work towards independence. This helps to lay the foundation for good work habits. We also know how important a ‘break for the brain’ can be, so we offer a healthy snack option to keep energy and focus alive!

I feel my child is falling behind in school. Can The Learning Hub Academy help?

Our teachers will be able to discuss your concerns and determine how the Learning Hub Academy can best support your child’s needs. With your permission we are happy to make school contacts.

My child is already getting good grades, why should I consider enrollment at The Learning Hub Academy?

Good grades are exciting! The Learning Hub Academy can offer support to expand on certain skills…”bump it up” and take work to a new level. The curriculum the Hub uses compliments the Ontario Provincial curriculum and offers up different challenges to promote critical thinking.

Will my child get bored in school after advancing with The Learning Hub Academy?

“Boredom is in the eye of the beholder.” Students can and should learn how to be in charge of their learning. Taking initiative to push beyond basic expectations opens many doors for students. The Ontario program encourages showing initiative and enables students to strive for level 4 (A-A+) learning. This type of achievement comes from the students who go above and beyond regular expectations – your student can aim to ‘push the limits’.

Will the Learning Hub Academy duplicate my child’s curriculum?

Our goal is to blend the best of the UK curriculum with the Ontario curriculum. It is an opportunity to master skills and concepts that, combined, will fill gaps and benefit all lifelong learners.

If my child is a bit behind, how long will it take to catch up to Grade Level?

Every learner is on their own individual journey. Teachers endeavour to support students and continually move them along their own learning curve. We aim for comprehension, application and retention.

Why would I keep my child in The Learning Hub Academy year after year?

Learning is an ongoing process. The curriculum we follow is cumulative. Progress is part of the process year after year.

What are some tips for helping my child complete homework?

We hope to foster good work habits at the Hub. Success with homework can mean many things, from having a quiet area to work, along with the tools needed to get the job done to receiving the encouragement required to persist. Parents can share empathy, understanding and support – be the cheerleader. We believe that some fear of failure is healthy. We help our learners to know that mistakes are to be expected, respected and are opportunities to learn and grow!

Who works with my student at the Academy?

We have OCT certified teachers as part of our team. The teachers are available to instruct and support the children as they navigate their way through the UK based curriculum workbooks. At times, independence will be fostered and encouraged as students work through cumulative skills. Teachers will connect and check in regularly. At times, teachers will instruct and support individual students when required to solidify skill acquisition. Confidence building and self esteem can be attained when students are given the strategies and tools to succeed.

Is homework an expectation of the Academy?

The Academy can and will supply homework to reinforce concepts if the teacher and family deem this to be necessary. We understand ‘busy families’ and want to help alleviate stress - not add to it. Please feel free to contact us with your personal preferences.
